Allergen Information

We take allergens seriously. Every meal we cook is prepared in our small Hertfordshire kitchen by a tight team who know our customers' dietary needs by name. Here's how we keep you informed and what we ask of you in return.

The 14 declared allergens

By law in the UK, food businesses must declare the presence of these allergens. We track all 14 across every recipe:

  • Cereals containing gluten (wheat, rye, barley, oats, spelt, kamut)

  • Crustaceans (such as prawns, crab, lobster)

  • Eggs

  • Fish

  • Peanuts

  • Soybeans

  • Milk (including lactose)

  • Tree nuts (almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, cashews, pecans, brazils, pistachios, macadamias)

  • Celery

  • Mustard

  • Sesame seeds

  • Sulphur dioxide and sulphites (above 10 mg/kg)

  • Lupin

  • Molluscs (such as mussels, oysters, squid)

Where you'll find allergen information

  • In the app, every meal card lists the allergens it contains. Tap a meal to see the full ingredient breakdown.

  • On your delivery, every meal is labelled with its name, ingredients, allergens, and use-by date.

  • On request, our team is happy to walk you through any recipe in detail. Email us at hello@bonhealthnutrition.com and we'll get back to you the same day.

How to tell us about your allergies

When you sign up, you'll be asked to flag any allergens you'd like us to keep out of your meals. We use that list to filter the menu so you only see meals that are safe for you. You can update your allergen preferences any time in My Profile under "Dietary".

If you change your mind mid-week or need to add a new allergen urgently, drop us an email at hello@bonhealthnutrition.com and we'll update your account before your next delivery.

Cross-contamination

Our kitchen handles all 14 declared allergens. While we follow strict procedures to keep ingredients separated and equipment thoroughly cleaned between recipes, we cannot guarantee that any meal is entirely free from traces of an allergen. Shared surfaces, shared cookware, and shared air make it impossible for any small kitchen to make that promise honestly.

If you have a severe or anaphylactic allergy, please get in touch with us at hello@bonhealthnutrition.com before placing your first order so we can talk you through our processes and help you decide whether Bon Health is the right fit for you.

A note on "may contain"

Where there's a meaningful risk of cross-contamination from a specific allergen (for example, when a meal is plated alongside a dish containing that allergen on the same prep day), we'll flag it on the meal card with a clear "may contain" warning. We'd rather over-communicate than under-communicate.

Got a question?
